About

WAST OBJECTIVE AND CONTEXT

We at the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust know how important it is to help staff stay well, particularly when it comes to mental health. There are so many resources available to you as individuals, team members, NHS staff and emergency workers, but these resources have never before been pooled into one easily accessible portal. Time is precious and mental health is paramount, so with that in mind, we bring you your WASTkeeptalking Portal.

WHO HAS BEEN INVOLVED?

The WAST Mental Health Team have been working with Cardiff-based web developers, CREO, to design and produce a dedicated WAST staff mental health and wellbeing portal.

Throughout the design and development processes, we have ensured that we collaborate with representatives from across the Trust, including EMS, NEPTS, CCC, corporate and trade union partners across Wales. This iterative design process has enabled us to listen and learn from various comments and feedback to work closely with the web developers in creating a tool which is essentially “for the staff, by the staff.”

HOW TO USE THE PORTAL

The portal has a number of resources aimed at our staff and line managers dealing with issues around mental health. It is designed for use at home, in work and on the go—on smartphones, tablets or PCs. Whether you are on the road or in an office this portal should be accessible by everyone.

WHEN TO USE THIS SITE

Information on the site ranges from contact details for who to call if you or a colleague are in crisis to resources that help you stay well.

CAVEAT

On top of the services we provide ‘in-house’ we have researched and sourced the best resources available locally or online and pooled them all here in an effort to give our staff the best possible support in a few simple clicks

We hope as many resources as possible are available in Welsh, but please do let us know when you find things that need to be translated
